As event chairperson, I am asking for your support of Rome ‘n Ride for the Children, a dynamic and fun-filled annual event which benefits the children of The Open Door Home in Rome, Georgia.

Attracting participants from across Northwest Georgia and beyond, dozens of volunteers are preparing for an even bigger and better fundraiser in 2008. In addition to the always popular Celebrity Golf Tournament, afternoon motorcycle ride, celebrity auctions and concert, this year's event - the sixth annual - will grow to include even more activities and importantly, additional sponsor and donor opportunities.

One-hundred percent of our event’s profits are used to help put disadvantaged kids on a better road for the future. To that end, many children have received extra tutoring and other scholastic assistance resulting in long-term benefits. These accomplishments are possible because of the monies generated by our event.

The 2008 Rome ‘n Ride for the Children began Thursday, May 15th, with our golf tournament held at the beautiful Barnsley Resort, hosted by Rome’s hometown football hero Ray Donaldson. Activities will continue on Saturday, October 4th, with the traditional motorcycle ride. Later this fall, we will have exciting live and silent celebrity auctions and a very special concert by country music favorite Mark Wills. The activities are being hosted by the Northwest Georgia Women’s Connection, South 107, Freedom Power Sports, and the State Mutual Stadium, Home of the Rome Braves.
